GENERAL INFORMATION
  • My Pet Story (MPS) is a unique way for you to honor or memorialize your beloved pet. Your "online scrapbook" includes a biography, guest book, slideshow, and take-home DVD of the Movie. Once completed, this scrapbook can be shared with friends and family via the My Pet Story website.
  • A My Pet Story package can be purchased from one of our affiliates or through the 'Purchase a Pet Product' area located in the top right corner of our homepage.
  • If you can't find the answer to your question here, we encourage you to contact us via email. If you purchased an "Unconditional Love" package, you are entitled to full customer service. Login to the members area to get access to our customer service phone number.
SEARCHING AND VIEWING My Pet Story
  • You can search for the pet you're looking for by typing in the owner's last name in any of the search fields on the home page. If you would like to do a more specific search, click on "Advanced Search" and type in the appropriate information.
There are three common reasons you might not find the story you are looking for:
  • The time period has expired for the package that was purchased.
  • The pet's owner has temporarily unpublished their My Pet Story.
  • You have made a mistake in spelling the owner's last name. If you are unsure of the spelling, try typing just the first few letters of the owner's last name.
  • MPS strives to make its site usable by the widest range of viewers. For the best possible experience, we recommend that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. If you are using an older version of this browser, you can download upgrades by clicking here.
Guest Book
  • If you would like to write an entry in the guest book of a story simply click on the "Sign Guest Book" button. Fill in your message and then click "Submit for Approval."
  • Once an entry is posted, it can only be changed by person who purchased the package (the manager). If you are the manager, login to the members area and can make changes using the Guest Book tab
MEMBERS QUESTIONS
  • You become a member when you purchase any My Pet Story package. A member is the person or organization that creates a username and password and manages that pet story. You do not have to be a member in order to view a My Pet Story.
  • No, there are no annual fees; the only cost is the initial price of the package
  • If you would like your pet to be featured on our Web site, please Contact Us.
  • True FriendTM package will remain on the website for 1 year. All other MPS packages will be on the website indefinitely.
LOGIN, Username and Password
  • You received a confirmation number either by e-mail or in the packet from the pet cemetery or animal shelter. In the "New Members" box on the home page, type in this confirmation number. You will then be asked to review our Terms of Service. Click Here if you have forgotten or lost your confirmation number.
  • After you have accepted our Terms of Service, you will then be taken to a screen where you can create your own username and unique password. Record your username and password exactly as you created them because they are case sensitive. You are now logged-in and ready to go! From this point forward, you will use your username & password to login.
  • If you've forgotten your password, simply go the home page at www.mypetstory.com and follow the link under "Forgot your username or password?" Your username or password will be sent to you via email to the address listed for the account. If you have forgotten both, you may use your Confirmation Number to retrieve your username. If you do not have your Confirmation Number, please send us an email.
CREATING A PET STORY
  • If you purchased a My Pet Story from one of our affiliates, you received a step-by-step instruction sheet. If you purchased a MPS from our website, this instruction page was emailed to you. If you no longer have this instruction page, send us an email. Or just follow the steps below:
    • Once you are logged into your account, go the edit area of the story. Click on the Biography tab ,where you will see the text box area to enter life story information.
    • We recommend that you type and save the life story in a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word first and then Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) it into the Biography text box and click save at the bottom of the page.
    • Once you are logged into your account, click on the photos tab to add photos to your story. You will be prompted to download three software gizmos necessary for the system to work. Click yes on all three of the security warnings that appear. This is only required the first time you enter the Image Management area on a computer. These programs will not harm your computer. We have three ways of adding photos:
      • Slap-N-Scan - A simple and fast process for scanning your images and automatically uploading them to the My Pet Story site. You scan photos by simply placing the photo facedown on the scanner and clicking the green Slap-N-Scan button in the Image Management tab. Once the photo loads into the site, you can adjust it to your preferences.
      • Upload Saved Images - If you have images saved on your computer and simply need to upload them, use this option. We recommend that you scan the photos at 300 dpi and you must save them as .jpg files. Click the Upload Saved Images button, select the folder where your photos are saved, choose the desired photo/s, and click Upload. You can upload 5 megabytes at a time, but if you exceed this limit you will receive an error message. If you are on a slower connection, uploading photos may take a while, especially if you are uploading large files and/or multiple images
      • Advanced Scan - If the Slap-N-Scan system doesn't provide satisfactory results, try Advanced Scan. The Slap-N-Scan method may have problems if the background is very light. The Advanced Scan system is the fastest scanning option. Make sure to place the photo facedown in the origin corner of the scanner and click the Advanced Scan button. Then, select the appropriate size from the list and wait for the scanner to finish. If you do not find the exact photo size, select a larger size and then crop the photo. Once the photo loads into the site, you can adjust it to your preferences
  • You can edit or unpublish (hold) any Guest Book entries that have been posted to your story. Simply go to the "Guest Book" tab and click "view all."
  • We recommend that you use a computer with at least a Windows 98 operating system or newer and use Internet Explorer version 6. If you will be scanning pictures into the site, you will also need a scanner that is TWAIN compliant in order to use our automated image management tool we call "Slap-N-Scan". As you are adding or editing content to your story, you should click the "Save" button on the bottom of the page before progressing to another tab.
MOVIE QUESTIONS
  • In an effort to provide the best possible viewing experience for watching a MeM Moving Memories™ movie, we recommend that you use a PC with a minimum of an 800 MHz Pentium III processor, 128 MB RAM, sound card and high-speed internet connection for optimal viewing. We also recommend viewing the movie at a resolution of 800 X 600 or higher. If you have a computer that does not meet one or all of these requirements, you may still be able to view the Movie, but it may experience difficulties in doing so (i.e. long load time, etc.)
  • The movie is automatically generated with default settings when photos are added to a My Pet Story. If you are the manager of the story, then you can login to your account, click the movie tab, and change the preferences (i.e. length of picture display, music choice, add an introduction and/or ending, etc.) for your movie.
  • When you are viewing a Movie that plays in a separate window, make sure that the volume on your computer and/or speakers is turned up. If you have external speakers, make sure they are on and plugged in.
  • The Devoted Companion and Unconditional Love packages include a DVD with your purchase. If you would like additional copies, send us an email.
  • Make sure that you are playing the Movie from Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Other browsers, such as AOL or Netscape, may encounter difficulties in playing the Movie.
  • If you cannot play the movie when you click the Play Movie button, then you may not have the Flash software or the correct version installed on your computer. Use this link to do a check for the Flash software: www.mem.com/avcheck.asp. If you have the correct version of Flash installed on your computer then you should check and see if you have pop-up blocker software on your computer. If so, check the preferences in the software because some pop-up blockers will prevent the movie from playing. Also note that the movie was designed to play on PC platforms and Mac users may experience problems viewing the movie.
